Marc I. ALVAREZ

President

As the President of Alvarez LLC, Marc bears chief responsibility for both the daily operations of the company as well as the planning and development of its strategic growth initiatives. A passionate leader with a deep appreciation for the granular information that levers a quarter of a billion dollar business, he successfully supports the organization through the effective aggregation and efficient management of the many moving parts that make up the Alvarez machine. Together with the rest of the leadership team, he has been instrumental in shaping the company as it exists today and strengthening the foundation upon which it continues to grow.

Marc’s experience and leadership have been focused on aligning business divisions and streamlining corporate processes in order to drive company evolution and growth, while also creating a top workplace culture for its associates. His efforts in this vein have resulted in a significant increase in the company’s net profitability, and his primary focus continues to be on driving profitable growth.

Marc led the Alvarez rebrand effort that successfully shifted the company’s image away from its roots as a provider of management consulting services to its current position as a leading value-added reseller of technology products and services into the federal space. He also leverages his legal training to ensure that Alvarez operates in a compliant and effective manner under the company’s contract vehicles, teaming agreements, and business models.

Prior to joining Alvarez, Marc was an antitrust attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, where he investigated and analyzed the competitive impact of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in a number of industries, most notably in the IT hardware space involving a number of major OEMs (notably HDD and SSD) and distributors. Prior to his tenure at the Commission, he was an appellate attorney at the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Marc earned an AB in History from Princeton University and a JD from The George Washington University; he is licensed to practice law in Washington DC.

Outside of work, Marc enjoys golfing, hiking, traveling, and watching the World Champion Washington Nationals play ball. He lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Caleb and Genevieve.
